TEACHERS & CLASS SIZE

All of our teachers are qualified and have been classically trained in reciting the Quran and other Islamic sciences. Majority of our teachers also hold further professional qualifications in childcare, primary education, and healthcare sciences.

In order to ensure that every child receives an optimum level of support and attention from the teacher, our cohorts are limited to a maximum of 24 children, with a ratio of 1 teacher to 8 children per group. We also have additional members of staff who assist class teachers with any further support needs.

LEARNING TO READ THE QURAN

We recognise the importance of reciting the Qur’an in the correct manner. Children are taught the Arabic alphabet using the madrasah’s bespoke Qa’idah and supplementary teaching aids such as flashcards, games, and interactive whiteboard activities. A focus is also given to the basic pronunciation of letters and understanding the rules of Tajweed. Our experienced teachers tailor the learning experience to the needs of the child and recognise individual learning styles.

MEMORISATION

Children of all ages are given the opportunity to memorise portions of the Qur’an. Memorisation is carried out on a 1:1 basis by teachers who maintain a strict adherence to the rules of Tajwid and encourage children to recite with confidence. Progress is tracked using diaries and revision is carried out at regular intervals.

Starting with Surahs often read in Salaah, children can then progress on to memorising longer portions of the Qur’an. We always encourage children to focus on the quality of their recitation over quantity.

ISLAMIC STUDIES

Our Islamic studies curriculum covers a wide range of important topics which we believe are essential to our children’s Tarbiyyah. These topics include:

  • 5 Pillars of Islam
  • Sirah of Prophets (AS) and Sahabah (RA)
  • Aqidah (Islamic beliefs)
  • Hadith
  • Adab and manners
  • Miracles in the Quran
  • Fiqh

We also ensure our children are aware of current events and its implication in their lives as Muslims. We encourage them to be active in their community and become upstanding citizens.

Our experienced teachers emphasise multi-modal learning by delivering lessons with a variety of interactive and engaging techniques. These include storytelling, videos and audio, presentations, roleplay, visual aids, games, and arts and crafts.

CARPET SESSIONS

Carpet sessions are an important part of the madrasah day where all the children come together to learn surahs, du’aa, Arabic vocabulary, and Hadith. This is separate to their 1:1 learning and offers them an opportunity to learn something new.
